LET’S TALK HEALTH: When we think of health, we often think of fitness and nutrition. We wonder how much we should be exercising, and what kind of foods we should be eating. But our health is dependent on so much more than that! It includes practices in gratitude, setting boundaries, learning to let go of self-criticism and fully embracing who we are. It is about ditching a perfectionist mindset in favor of a bit of self-love. It is about looking at our health in the long run, not just over the next week. It’s about having fun in the moment, and letting go of the stress and anxiety holding us back from living a more fulfilled life. It’s about health and happiness.

If you like the sound of that, than you’ll love what else I have to say about health here.

FINDING HAPPINESS: I struggled for a really long time on my search for happiness. For years, I was stuck working jobs I hated, feeling unappreciated and completely unconnected from the work I was doing. Of course, they were high-paying, secure corporate jobs that I was supposed to like. And anyway, I had no idea what I wanted to do instead. Everyone told me to follow my passions, but I couldn’t even begin to list what I was passionate about.

Until the day I started following what felt right deep down, moment-to-moment. I stopped being the girl who couldn’t make a decision to save her life, and started saying “no” to things I didn’t really want to do. I dug into self-development books, doubled down on exercise, and starting reading all I could about health and nutrition. And then everything started falling into place. I suddenly knew what I wanted to do with my life. I listened to my heart, got my personal training certification, started coaching online, and quit my corporate job (to the tune of a $30,000 loss) in favor of working full-time at a gym, while continuing to grow my online business. I have never been happier.

Any of this sound familiar? If so, I’m here to help. Let’s start cultivating more happiness together here.

PRACTICING SELF-CARE: Self-care comes in many forms. Meditation, long walks, eating well, moving your body in ways you love… the list goes on. A few of my personal favorites include the aforementioned list, with a special emphasis on drinking coffee, making smoothies and taking insanely hot showers. Self-care is not something we can ignore anymore. We can no longer “pour from an empty cup.” We have to take care of ourselves, and learn how we can lean on these practices to enhance our well being.
